The Real Zaragoza of the change of cycle gets underway with the medical tests and protocol health checks at the beginning of the preseason. After the change of ownership and under the tutelage of a new coach, Juan Carlos Carcedo, the players with a contract get down to work, on a day that will start early, with the first tests at the Ciudad Deportiva, and will be monopolized by the medical examinations. It will be tomorrow, Tuesday, when the Real Zaragoza players put on their boots and step onto the grass of the training pitches in a double group work session.

Zaragoza begins the preparation period without new faces. There has been no transfer yet. However, the club has been able to lighten, in recent days, the extensive list of thirty players that Juan Carlos Carcedo could have found in the first days of training.

Neither Marc Aguado, nor Sabin Merino, nor Juan Carlos Azón, nor Ángel López will pass through the Sports City. They have been the first to leave the club. The staff is called early for blood tests and first medical tests under the direction and supervision of the Irenaeus of the Martyrs, head of medical services. Subsequently, the footballers will undergo different anthropometric measurements (folds, weight controls…) and a podiatric evaluation by Podoactiva professionals. Then, to close this first day of the preseason, the Real Zaragoza players will complete their medical studies at the center’s facilities Chiron Salud La Floresta.

All the players with a current contract in the squad are mentioned, although those players closest to deciding their departure from Real Zaragoza in the coming days could be absent, with special permission.

Thus, the goalkeepers Cristian Álvarez and Ratón, the defenders Vigaray, Fran Gámez, Francés, Jair, Clemente, Lluís López, Chavarría, Lasure and Nieto, the midfielders Grau, Petrovic, Francho, Zapater, Buyla, Bikoro, and Javi Ros , the wingers Larra, Bermejo and Narváez and the forwards Azón, Carbonell and Marcos Baselga are the first team players.

Among those summoned for this first phase of the preseason, there are also the youth squad Miguel Puche, Alberto Vaquero and Marcos Luna. Faced with the large group of footballers with whom he has to deal with in the first few days, Juan Carlos Carcedo has chosen to reinforce himself with only three players from the subsidiary or the youth team. The most ‘expert’ in the first team is Miguel Puche, a winger who will have a record from Deportivo Aragón but who will have a role in the attacking rotation like last year, on horseback with the first team. Carcedo wants to evaluate him because his performance and application may depend on whether Zaragoza needs more or less reinforcements up front.

For their part, the other two homegrown players come with a very specific function: midfielder Alberto Vaquero will complete the position until the club incorporates a signing, with the name of Manu Molina as a priority. For his part, Marcos Luna is a right back who jumps directly from the youth team. At 19 years old, he is a very physical, promising footballer, another right-back with a certain projection within the quarry structure that also includes Ángel López, Juan Sebastián and Borge. If there is now a rich position in the quarry, he is the right back. Luna, with the departure of Ángel, is necessary to double the position in the first training sessions given the uncertainty that Carlos Vigaray presents after the injury that prevented him from playing last season.
